Trough screw conveyor for grain

Reliable grain conveying

Trough screw conveyors are a very economical option for conveying bulk materials such as grain and legumes. In addition to the main purpose of gentle conveying, the trough screw conveyor also serves as a homogeniser.

A trough screw conveyor consists of a drive unit, the trough and the bearing unit. The drive unit has a geared motor that sets the screw shaft in motion. Depending on the length of the conveying path, intermediate bearings are used to prevent the shaft from saddling up. Trough lengths of up to 20 m are standard today. Depending on the intended use, however, longer conveying paths can also be realised. In this case, our development department checks the feasibility.

To ensure that a constant volume flow is achieved and the screw does not become clogged, an acceptance thread is inserted in the area of the inlet. In this area, the pitch between the turns is about 1/3 of the rest of the screw. Another recommendation for high loads is a filling height of 30% of the trough.

Hedemann realises trough screw conveyors with a conveying capacity of up to 300t/h. Screw flights with a diameter of up to 900 mm are used.

High-quality gear motors with different speeds are used for trough screw conveyors. Depending on the conveying length, the material to be conveyed or external conditions, our grain augers are always adapted to the respective requirement.

Reliability is particularly important in the grain harvest. That is why we make no compromises when it comes to quality. Especially in industrial grain processing, equipment failures mean a potential loss of customers. Investing in good quality therefore pays off.
